We Proudly Present Paralegal Graduate Amber Flaherty
DATE On June 24, 2021

Amber lives by the following quote from Les Brown: “You are never too old to set another goal or to dream a new dream.”1 When she was ready for a new career, Amber did not hesitate or make excuses. Instead, she worked hard to turn her goal into a reality. By studying hard, she excelled in all of her courses in Rockford Career College's Paralegal Studies associate degree program. We are proud to say that she graduated on the President's List. We are happy to see she not only earned a 4.0 GPA but also began a career that was once only a dream for her.

What You Learn in a Paralegal AAS Program

For each graduate of a program, we highlight three different courses. During the program, Amber took courses such as: Administrative Law, Human Resources Law, Advanced Legal Research and Writing, and more.

In these courses, she learned about:

  • Legislation, delegation and limitations on agency, due process of law, agency informal action, rulemaking, acquiring and disclosing, adjudication, judicial law, workers' compensation law, and Social Security disability law
  • The essential laws, techniques, forms, and terminology that govern recruitment and placement, training and development, employee compensation and benefits, labor relations and employee security, and the global management of human relations
  • Performing factual and legal research as well as preparing case briefs, legal office memoranda, and motions

In addition to paralegal-specific courses, Amber also completed general education requirements such as College Math and Introduction to Psychology to round out her Associate of Applied Science degree.
