What is Animal Welfare Management?
Animal welfare is defined as the way that animals are coping with the conditions in which they live. Animal Welfare Management courses teach students how to gauge an animal's welfare, identify potential risks to animal welfare, and how to mitigate those risks. Individuals in Animal Welfare positions need to be well-versed in animal health & nutrition, animal behavior, facility management, animal ethics & law, shelter management and client communications.
Improving animals' lives is a noble cause. Our Animal Welfare Management Program prepares students to meet the high demand for animal care.
According to the American Pet Products Association, pet owners are expected to spend over $75 billion on their pets this year.1
What Career Options Are Available In Animal Welfare Management?
Individuals with the Animal Welfare Management diploma have a wide variety of options when it comes to entry-level employment in the animal care industries. Potential careers include working in boarding facilities or doggie daycares, veterinary offices, animal shelters and rescues, animal sanctuaries or animal training centers. This field is highly rewarding for those who are passionate about the protection and care of animals.
Most Importantly, according to the Bureau of Labor Statistics, the number of jobs in Illinois for animal care workers is expected to increase by nineteen percent between 2016 and 2026.2
How Do I Enter Animal Welfare Management?
While there are multiple avenues to entering Animal Welfare Management, one of the best ways to gain employment is through related education and course work. To complete your diploma for Animal Welfare Management, you just need to complete ATB proficiency requirements. Our Animal Welfare Management Program can be completed in as little as 9 months!
