“Luckily, an instructor named Ebony Woods took me under her wing. “You can do this,” she insisted. I recently graduated with an associate degree, complete with a cap and gown commencement ceremony.”

🌟 From homeless shelter to healthcare hero 🌟

Today, the Chicago Sun-Times published an op-ed from Shaylee Forester, a recent graduate of Rockford Career College. Three years ago, Shaylee, at age 17, lived in a homeless shelter for young women.

Today, she’s a registered medical assistant, helping patients in a clinic near an apartment she calls her own. How did Shaylee turn her life around? She enrolled at Rockford Career College.

She’s proof that education – and, just as important, highly specific job training – can make all the difference in kick-starting a career.
