We are proud to share that Danielle Harriott, Vice President of Community Outreach & Alumni Affairs at Rockford Career College, is featured in a national opinion essay published today in USA Today.

Danielle Harriot, right, and speech and English teacher Christine Swanberger at the Rockford Career College 2025 graduation ceremony.

In her essay, Danielle reflects on her personal journey as a student, a parent, and an educator—and on the role education played in helping her change the direction of her life. What makes this story especially meaningful to our community is that Danielle is not only a senior leader at Rockford Career College; she is also a proud RCC graduate.

Her experience mirrors that of many students we serve every day: individuals balancing work, family, and real-world challenges while pursuing an education that leads to opportunity and stability. Danielle’s story highlights how support, determination, and access to career-focused education can open doors that once felt out of reach.

Today, Danielle works closely with students, alumni, employers, and community partners to help others find their own path forward. As Vice President of Community Outreach & Alumni Affairs, she leads initiatives that strengthen community connections, elevate alumni voices, and expand opportunities for future students.

We are honored to see Danielle’s story shared on a national platform and grateful for the impact she continues to make—both on our campus and beyond.
