Massage Therapy

Massage therapy is one of the fastest growing careers in the United States. Employment of massage therapists is expected to increase by 19% from 2008 to 2018, faster than the average for all occupations (according to the 2010-11 Occupational Outlook Handbook from the Bureau of Labor Statistics). Employment will grow as more people learn about the benefits of massage therapy. Jobs are available in spas, physical therapy & chiropractic offices, hospitals, gyms and many other venues including private practice.

Massage therapy uses touch to treat injuries, sooth tired or overworked muscles, reduce stress, and promote general health. Treatment comes in many varieties including Swedish massage, deep-tissue massage, reflexology, and sports massage, and most therapists specialize in one or more.
The growing awareness of the effectiveness of massage has many of us wondering if we should pursue a career in massage therapy.
