We Proudly Present Veterinary Technician Graduate Kaitlyn Allen

“You never work a day in your life if you love what you do.” Kaitlyn loved nothing more than caring for animals, prompting her to pursue a new profession. In Rockford Career College's Associate of Applied Science in Veterinary Technician degree program, Kaitlyn flourished and developed the skills necessary for a new career path. We are so proud of her for graduating and launching her career serving animals in her community.

What You Learn in a Veterinary Technician AAS Program

For each graduate of a program, we highlight three different courses. During the program, Kaitlyn took courses such as: Veterinary Office Management, Pharmacology, and Animal Clinical Procedures. 

In these courses, she learned about:

  • Proper record keeping, client communication skills, OSHA regulations and guidelines, inventory, career opportunities, employment skills, and assisting with client bereavement
  • Medication classifications and indications with emphasis placed on proper calculations, side effects, dosages, withdrawal times, and potential problems associated with prescription medications
  • Common procedures with small and large animals including restraint, administration of medication by multiple routes, proper techniques for blood draws, specialized testing, wound care, neonatal care, dermatology, alternative therapy, and physical examination with emphasis on individual systems

To fulfill general education requirements, Kaitlyn also completed courses such as Veterinary Life Science and Written Communications.

How Our Graduate Became a Veterinary Technician

Like Kaitlyn, you too could become a veterinary technician in just a matter of months and start your career journey in this interesting and necessary profession. In this blended program, you will learn through lectures, hands-on training, and an externship in a clinical setting. Our program is fully accredited by the American Veterinary Medical Association.
