“Choose to live!” says Rockford Career College graduate Kristine Alexander. Ready to live her best life, Kristine decided to pursue the career she truly wanted. After enrolling in Rockford Career College's medical assistant program, Kristine worked hard toward a better tomorrow. Her efforts helped her graduate on our Dean's List. We are so proud of her for overcoming obstacles in her life and becoming a medical assistant.

What You Learn in a Medical Assistant Program

For each graduate of a program, we highlight three different courses. During the program, Kristine took courses such as: General Anatomy & Physiology, Pharmacology and Pathology, and MA Technology Fundamentals.

In these courses, she learned about:

  • Basic chemistry; cells and tissues; and the integumentary, skeletal, muscular, neurological, genitourinary, reproductive, and digestive systems
  • Drug classification, dosage calculation, routes and methods of drug administration, prescription management, and abbreviations used in pharmacology
  • Microsoft Windows and its applications, such as desktop features, search capabilities, and file management, as well as creating, editing, and formatting documents and spreadsheets
