“Be the kind of person that makes other people want to up their game.” This quote from an unknown author inspired Katelyn Lameyer to achieve her full potential. By enrolling in Rockford Career College's medical assistant program, Katelyn began the path to a brighter future. Her diligent study habits and determination helped her graduate on our Dean's List. We are so proud of Katelyn for stepping up to the challenge and starting her new life as a medical assistant.

What You Learn in a Medical Assistant Program

For each graduate of a program, we highlight three different courses. During the program, Katelyn took courses such as: Specimen Collection and Analysis, General Anatomy & Physiology, and Pharmacology and Pathology.

In these courses, she learned about:

  • The proper handling, collecting, transportation, and testing of various types of specimens
  • Basic chemistry; cells and tissues; and the integumentary, skeletal, muscular, neurological, genitourinary, reproductive, and digestive systems
  • Drug classification, dosage calculation, routes and methods of drug administration, prescription management, and abbreviations used in pharmacology

How Our Graduate Became a Medical Assistant

Like Katelyn, you too could become a medical assistant in just a matter of months and start your career journey in this interesting and necessary profession. As a student, you will have the opportunity to complete a 170-hour externship with 160 hours in a healthcare setting, giving you real-world experience before you even graduate. We are ready to assist you with completing the enrollment process, connecting with local employers, finding a free tutor, and much more. We also offer financial aid to those who qualify!
