Pursuit of Happiness
DATE On February 18, 2019

Are your family and friends confused as to why you want to do more? “You're getting a paycheck that covers your bills,” they say. “Isn't that good enough?” However, you still come home each night with that persistent voice in your mind. You know the one.

“There's so much more to life than that,” it tells you. “You are smart and capable of greater feats than this.” Even though your eighth grade teacher said you would never amount to anything, you know that you will. When your uncle says that going to the same dead-end job every day is all that we will ever do, you keep thinking, “I want more.”

There are so many negative people out there who will discourage you from pursuing your dreams. Some people simply enjoy instilling fear in others. Don't let them stop you from finding a better life. As Will Smith's character, Chris Gardner, tells his son in the 2006 movie, The Pursuit of Happyness, “Don’t ever let somebody tell you…You can’t do something. Not even me. Alright? You got a dream…You gotta protect it. People can’t do something themselves, they wanna tell you you can’t do it. You want something, go get it. Period.”1,2

We at Rockford Career College want to tell you not to listen to the negativity. Surround yourself with positive people and pursue your career dream. We are proud of our instructors and staff for motivating students to do their best and achieve their goals. Likewise, our student services team is here for you if you ever need to talk. They will help you through the hard times and remind you why your career goals are worthwhile.

We hope to inspire you so that you might pass along the encouragement someday. If you ever manage employees in the future, you could have the chance to adjust their work schedules to help them attend school and reach their dreams as well. To learn more about our programs and how to get started on your career journey, call 888.680.6682 or submit our Request Information form. It's time you followed that voice that already knows you are ready to succeed.
