According to the Bureau of Labor Statistics, Medical Assistant Careers are projected to increase by 23% from 2014-202!

Medical Assistants complete administrative and clinical tasks in doctor’s offices and other specialty health practitioners; such as podiatrists or chiropractors.

The Rockford Career College Medical Assistant Degree Program is a 10-month program that helps students develop skills necessary for scheduling, billing, taking of vital signs, medication administration, phlebotomy, assisting with minor surgical procedures, and performing laboratory tests and electrocardiograms.

Rockford Career College Medical Assistant Program Objectives:
Demonstrate the ability to perform the general duties of the medical office, including: effective written and verbal communications; telephone techniques’ identify and respond to issues of confidentiality, legality and ethics; perform patient instruction; and perform and utilize office equipment and methods of quality control.

Demonstrate the ability to perform the administrative duties of medical office including: appointment management, medical billing and coding, customer service bookkeeping and payroll.

Demonstrate the ability to perform clinical duties of a medical office including: taking patient histories and vital signs; assisting the physician with patient exams and minor surgical procedures; assisting the physician with specialty exam, and performing phlebotomy, laboratory tests and electrocardiograms.
