How to find the motivation to achieve your goals.

Can't find the motivation to achieve your goal? Students sometimes say they just don't have the energy to attend school. However, you could boost your energy by increasing your dopamine and serotonin levels.

First, what are serotonin and dopamine? Primarily found in the brain, these chemicals regulate your appetite, mood, and memory, among other important functions. An imbalance of either one of these chemicals “can contribute to addictions, mood conditions, memory issues, and attention difficulties.”1

One method to increase your dopamine and serotonin is to set goals and follow through on them. Studies have found that “When we achieve one of our goals, our brain releases dopamine. The brain finds this dopamine rush very rewarding. It seeks out more dopamine by working toward another goal. Larger goals typically come with increased dopamine. However, it’s best to start with small goals to improve your chances of success. Short-term goals can add up to achieve a long-term goal (and a bigger reward). This pattern keeps a steady release of dopamine in your brain.”1

Ready to set “find a new career” as your next major goal? Start with the short-term goals of completing five-week classes, which could include  Student Success Strategies or Professional Success Strategies. Each class you take or internship you complete could be one more completed goal. Imagine your serotonin and dopamine levels as you walk across the stage at graduation!

Our staff members are ready to encourage you and help you complete your chosen program. Call 866.860.6682 or submit our Request Information form to reach out to them today. Our staff get so excited to see you achieve your goals, their dopamine and serotonin levels will probably increase as well!
