Hi, I'm Christine McGowan, and the reason I went back to school is because I wanted to start a new chapter in my life.  I am a CNA at a nursing home and I love it, but I don't like the strain it puts on my body.  So I decided to go back to school.  My experience here at Rockford Career College has been wonderful! I started as a medical assistant, then I moved to medical billing and coding.  Two and one half years ago I was a shy persna nd barely lifted my head when people spoke with me.  The staff and other students got me out of my sehll.  Now, it's easier for me to engage peole in conversation.
In the beginning of my school career, I worked full time and took care of a family member before she passed. I liked how the instructors work to make their students better people. In my case they were successful.  I learned medical terms that I didn't previously know learned why we need coders and billers, and learned how to deal with insurance companies. I now understand the importance of medical coders and billers as it relates to healthcare reimbursement, and to my future career.  So, thank you Rockford Career College, for helping me get out of my shell and start a new career.
