Graduate Highlight - Karla Giesecke - CNC and Robotic Manufacturing Technology
DATE On August 27, 2019

Are you passionate about your career? Our students believe that enjoying what you do is a key part of success, so they are prepared to do what it takes to reach their professional goals. Recent Rockford Career College graduate Karla Giesecke shared her story of how she selected her new career path.

While some RCC students knew what field they were interested since childhood, Ms. Giesecke only discovered her calling after spending some time in the workforce. “I worked for about a month in a factory and found that I really enjoyed it,” Ms. Giesecke recalls. Ready to spend more time in manufacturing environments, she decided to pursue her diploma in CNC and Robotic Manufacturing Technology.

Not every day was easy for Ms. Giesecke. As a single mother, she sometimes found it difficult to balance all of her responsibilities. However, she was able to manage it all with support from: family; an understanding boss; and Ryan Bradley, one of her instructors. “Ryan Bradley encouraged me to keep going when times were tough for me,” says Ms. Giesecke. “I was surprised to not only have Ryan's support but the support of the vet tech instructors and staff as well.”

Their encouragement and her passion for the field allowed her to pass courses such as Metallurgy, Fixture Design and Tooling, Introduction to CNC/CAD Turning and Milling, Blueprint Reading, and more. Ms. Giesecke graduated with her diploma, eager to use what she learned. “Never give up on yourself,” she advises future students, “and make sure you love what you want to do for the rest of your life before investing in it.”

We hope Ms. Giesecke's story inspired you.
