Graduate Highlight - Ashley Russell

Are you hesitating to start a career program because you are afraid of not finding a job after graduation? At Rockford Career College, many of our students find employment with the externship partners they trained with while still in school. Recent graduate Ashley Russell is just one of many alumni who has done this.
 
Ms. Russell has always had a heart for finned and four-legged friends, but she never imagined she could make a career out of helping them. It was not until she received encouragement from her family that she pursued this dream. “My grandmother, before she passed away from cancer, convinced me that I should follow my passion for animals,” says Ms. Russell. She then enrolled in RCC's veterinary technician program.
 
Her externship was completed at Auburn Animal Clinic here in Rockford, Illinois. After graduating from RCC in December of 2018, Ms. Russell was hired at the clinic. Although she had been anxious about starting this journey, Ms. Russell cannot imagine doing anything else now. “Even when you feel you have failed,” she says, “never give up!”
