Manufacturing Day

Tuesday, October 11, 2016 - 3:30pm to 6:30pm

Rockford is celebrating the skilled trades with Manufacturing Day, an annual national event, executed at the local level that supports thousands of manufacturers across the nation as they host students, teachers, parents, job seekers and other local community members at open houses designed to showcase modern manufacturing technology and careers.
In Rockford, manufacturers from around the region will open their doors to more than 500 students, parents, educators, civic leaders, business leaders and anyone interested in learning more about the manufacturing industry. The tours of small groups interacting with the various business partners will begin around 8 a.m. and all students will end up at Heartland's Auditorium (1280 S Alpine Rd.) for lunch and a presentation from Jeremy Bout, the Executive Producer of the EdgeFACTOR.
Students will then have the opportunity to hear about the new opportunities at Rockford Career College and the benefits of having a career in the trades. After lunch, they will tour Rockford Career College's new training facility, featuring CNC and robotic manufacturing technology. At all times, individuals attending are surrounded by professionals from all different areas in the manufacturing field where they can openly ask questions and see demonstrations. Students will then take their bus back to their school at the end of the day.
